Icy roadways lead to mayhem and unique challenges. In these conditions, it’s sometimes necessary to go outside the norm to help your patient. Severe weather conditions resulting in multiple accidents within the county meant a long delay for an available ambulance so permission was granted to use Branchville Engine 111 to transport a patient from the scene of a highway accident to a local area hospital.

About Branchville: The Branchville Volunteer Fire Company and Rescue Squad is a 100% volunteer fire station within walking distance of the University of Maryland College Park. The dedicated members of Branchville operate two engines and two ambulances to provide fire, rescue and emergency medical services to the cities of College Park, Berwyn Heights, Greenbelt and surrounding area. Branchville offers a live-in program for students attending the University of Maryland College Park and other area colleges such as University of Maryland University College. Visit our Live-in section on the company website for more information.
