Branchville Engine 811 and Paramedic Ambulance 811 were dispatched in the top half of the 4 o'clock AM hour to the 9200-block Edmonston Road for a reported motor vehicle accident. Volunteer Chief 814A arrived on scene and found that a 4-dr sedan traveling northbound on Edmonston Road had struck a wooden power pole at the above address. The impact shattered the pole which collapsed into the street and pulled the pole just south down as well leaving area residents in the east end of Franklin Square Apartments without power.

Branchville units arrived and surveyed the damage, secured the vehicle and evaluated the driver who refused treatment and transport. The driver was uninjured due to designed deployment of the vehicle's front air bag. PA811 departed while E811 remained on scene with Greenbelt Police Department until the arrival of PEPCo.
