Crews Battle Working Fire in Freezing Cold Temperatures
Engine 811B was operating on an early morning working house fire (Box Alarm 01-11) in the 3000 block of Rosemary Lane. Engine 811B was dispatched as the 3rd due engine but upon arrival was upgraded to 1st due. Truck 34 arrived with fire showing from the 2nd floor of a 2 story wood frame dwelling. Engine 811B dropped a supply hose however, the hydrants were frozen. Engine 811B’s crew used roadside flares to thaw out a hydrant, hooked up and then stretched 2 hose lines on the initial attack. The fire was quickly extinguished on the first and second floors. Truck 834, Truck 814 and Engine 811B remained on the scene after clearing other units.
