Early Morning Heavy Entrapment on I95

On the early morning of January 20th, Engine and Ambulance crews from Branchville responded to a Personal Injury Accident on I-95 Southbound in the area of Powder Mill Road.

A811B was the first unit to arrive on the scene. A811B advised dispatch that the accident was on Northbound I-95 right before Powder Mill Road and there were two vehicles off the roadway, one of them was a box truck.

Engine 811 arrived at the scene shortly after A811B arrived. Engine 811 confirmed there was a trapped person in the box truck and the accident was upgraded to entrapment crash.

The Engine crews took the bumper hose and stood by the box truck in case of fire, while Squad 715 (Burtonsville) and Squad 814 (Berwyn Heights) extricated the pinned patient from the truck within 30 minutes.

A811B transported the driver of the box truck to an area trauma center where the patient was evaluated and treated for injuries.

Hazmat Response crews from College Park were called to assist with a fuel leak. The scene was turned over to Maryland State Police and fire service units returned to service
