
MVC With Entrapment & Working Fire Make for a Busy Day
Yesterday morning shortly after 0830, Engine 111 was alerted for an MVC with entrapment in the first due on the Capital Beltway OL after Baltimore Ave. Engine 111 arrived first to find a pickup truck in the fast shoulder with one patient trapped. The patient was quickly extricated and transported to an area trauma center by EMS. Engine 111 was ready for service shortly after 0900.
Later in the afternoon shortly after 1445, Engine 111 was alerted 3rd due for the house fire in the 1200 blk of Chillum road in Co. 44’s area. Engine 111 was bumped to 2nd due en route. The EMS duty officer arrived first on the scene to find a 1.5 story single family dwelling with smoke showing. First arriving units made entry through the front door and immediately encountered a hole in the floor. Engine 111 advanced their line to the basement, at the direction of command, through side Delta. Operating with other units, Engine 111’s crew extinguished the fire in the basement which had extended up into the first floor. Engine 111 operated for approximately one hour before returning to service.
